QB Quinn Ewers skips senior year of HS to enroll at Ohio State

Five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers out of Texas has reclassified from the Class of 2022 to compete for the starting job at Ohio State this season.Ewers was the No. 1 prospect — and top quarterback — in the ’22 class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. Ewers decommitted from Texas in October 2020 and committed to the Buckeyes a month later.He announced Monday he has elected to forgo his senior year at Southlake Carroll and finish high school early. He’s one class away from earning his high school degree.Ewers said he found himself in an “unfortunate” situation after the Texas University Interscholastic League ruled that he could not profit off his name, image and likeness as a prep athlete.”This is not just a financial decision; this is about what is best for my football career,” Ewers posted to Twitter. “… I feel it’s time to get that jump on my college career that is available to me. I am eager to start learning from Coach (Ryan) Day and the rest of the coaching staff.”
