Roope Hintz’s return to the Dallas Stars was short-lived on Friday as he left the game against the Colorado Avalanche in the second period with an apparent leg injury.
The Stars later announced Hintz would not return to the game, calling it a lower-body injury.
Hintz checked Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon into the boards in the corner of the Avalanche’s offensive zone. As MacKinnon fought to break away, the Dallas two-way forward’s legs went out from underneath him and he began to grab his upper left leg with 4:22 left in the period.
The Finnish Olympian was helped off the ice by a team trainer and Jason Robertson.
Hintz missed the Stars’ previous four games due to an illness. He entered Friday fifth on the team with 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists).
